Notifications
We send rental confirmations, reminders, receipts and status updates. Which channel carries a given message depends on the message and on your settings.
Email is on by default. Push notifications need your permission — the app offers it on the home screen once your account is set up, and only sends them if you allow it. Text messages are off unless you turned them on.
Push notifications are not arriving
The usual answer is that permission was never given, or was later withdrawn.
If you declined the prompt, the app cannot ask again — iOS only offers it once. Turn them on in Settings → Trail Time → Notifications on your device instead.
That switch is invisible to us: we send, and the phone declines to show it, which is why nothing on our side reports a problem.
Email is not arriving
Check spam before anything else. If a message you were expecting is not there, check that the address on your account is the one you are looking in — an old address is the other common cause. That address cannot be changed from the app; if it is wrong, contact us.
Some emails are only sent when there is something to send. A password reset for an account that has no password — one that signs in with Google or Apple, or one that was invited and never claimed — produces no email at all. See resetting your password.
If you would rather have fewer
Messages about a rental you are on — a confirmation, a reminder, a receipt — are how the rental is run rather than marketing, and are worth keeping on.
Profile → Preferences → Notifications & Location in the app is where all three are managed. Text messages can be turned off there. Push notifications and location are your device's to grant or withdraw, so that screen sends you to Settings for them.
